Before proceeding, students must familiarize themselves with the college's policies, procedures, expectations, etc. available on Student Employment at Smith.

JobX is for student job advertising and hiring. JobX is not BannerWeb. Log into BannerWeb for Payroll and address all questions regarding time sheets to payroll@smith.edu.

First year students, on Work-Study or not, are limited to Dining Services and Facilities Management positions during their entire first year at Smith.

Any student wishing to work must first complete mandatory paperwork with the Payroll Office. You will not be able to apply for jobs online otherwise. Visit the Student Payroll for all information pertaining to BannerWeb, time sheet approvals, payment, pay rates and the payroll schedule. Summer workers must do an additional form with Human Resources. Refer to Summer Employment information.

The minimum wage is $11 an hour as of January 1, 2017, $11.50 an hour for Off-Campus Work-Study and America Reads Tutoring. First year students can work up to 8 hours a week, upperclass students a maximum of 10 hours a week. Work on-campus during J-term is excluded from Work-Study earnings limits while off-campus earnings continue to be counted. Refer to Student Employment at Smith for policies, procedures, information and answers to any questions.

Find a Job
Conduct either quick or advanced searches for available jobs. Submit an online job application. If there is no button for an online application, contact the supervisor listed within the job description via email or phone. Remember that you must have your Payroll paperwork on file before you can be hired or work. Students must never begin working without the supervisor hiring them on JobX.

Non-work-study students have no priority for jobs and should not apply until after 10/1 in the fall or the first 2 weeks of class in the spring. Non-work-study students are then not eligible to keep jobs the next year, which must be re-advertised by the employer.

Upperclass students can work up to 10 hours a week and first year students up to 8 hours a week.
